2K is working on an "unannounced remake", spurring speculation about its identity. That's according to the LinkedIn profile of a motion capture animator currently employed by the studio.
Spotted by MP1ST (thanks, Eurogamer), the developer in question cites experience working on a bunch of AAA titles that you'd expect, like WWE 2K24 and NBA 2K24, as well as upcoming ones like the next BioShock and Mafia games. But what has drawn the eye of interested observers are the two unannounced projects, one an "unannounced remake" and the other referred to as "a sports title". The LinkedIn post appears to have been updated since the initial reporting; it now reads "upcoming unannounced title".
Eurogamer notes that it's been almost a decade since the legendary BioShock trilogy received the remaster treatment. The original game (while excellent) was released in 2007, and a complete remake actually sounds quite appealing. MP1ST reminds us that traumatic shooter Spec Ops: The Line was delisted from all digital storefronts earlier this year, apparently due to expired licenses, which could also make it a potential candidate.
Is there a particular 2K title you'd like to see get the remake treatment? Do BioShock or Spec Ops seem like potential contenders, or is there something we're missing here? Let us know in the comments section below.

I can't believe they're finally remaking NBA 2K15!
I hope it’s not BioShock. Those games have been remastered and still play amazing to this day, so a remake is not necessary.
i hate remakes , i hope they don’t remake bioshock 1 , it was the only good game in the series
@nomither6 honest question, how do you feel about the upcoming Generations remake?
@LikelySatan i don’t think that’s a remake; it’s just the same game (or “remaster”) repackaged with DLC. I’m not a fan of that either because it’s a waste of time and resources . They should have made a brand new sonic x shadow game with a new or different concept .
@nomither6 yeah definitely more a remaster situation. I would love for them to slow down w Sonic releases in general. I'm weary of all the remasters/remakes too.
...then again, Nightdive is doing God's work.
@LikelySatan I’ve never heard of night dive until now. it’s pretty cool what they do
remake of bioshock trilogy totally not needed they run at 4k 60 the remastered versions and look great
would be pointless
The Darkness
and lets not forget they co published Elder scrolls Oblivion
Spec ops:the line? Good game (have it on the pc) but not anything special at all to be honest. Does it deserve a remake/remaster? No not at all.
Is anyone anywhere working on anything new these days?
Bioshock is one of the best games of all time and the remasters look very good to this day. I would buy a remake but its definitely not necessady
@Northern_munkey Good story, dated gameplay, I think that could be a good pick.
Bioshock, good gameplay, good story, already playable in 4K60FPS, not necessary imo.
The above didnt stop Sony working on remaking Horizon 1 (one of the most insane choices in recent years) though, so who knows.
@LordAinsley from what i know Horizon 1 is a remaster not a remake
Honestly Bioshock 1 deserves UE5 remake , remaster looks okay but you can see old models etc
@LordAinsley the rumored remake is probably the lego game
I liked the original bioshock a lot but I’m not sure how it would benefit from a remake.
I’d prefer Spec Ops, since I never actually took the opportunity to play it back on PS3. Bioshock on the other hand is available to play on my PS5 via backwards compatibility to the PS4 version. Granted, the game is a classic and is starting to look pretty rough, it’s still perfectly playable.
Whathever it is it should be interesting.we will see.word up son
I'm going to guess XCOM, the last thing that happened with the franchise was the Switch port in 2020 and the other big 2K IP that got Switch ports had something happen since then. Like we know there's an upcoming Bioshock game and Civilization VII releases next year.
There should be a law about remakes only being allowed for games of at least 3 console generation ago. That would be PS2 games and older at this time.
FIFA 2K and Spec Ops I reckon
Could very well be Borderlands...
I hope it’s not BioShock because those games are timeless classics and still hold up remarkably well. I would love for it to be Spec Ops: The Line. That game is sensational, and powerful. If it is remade, I hope they don’t change the story. In fact, the would simply take a graphical overhaul and leave everything else the same, other than maybe smoother mechanics.
How about Sid Meier's Pirates!
@jorel262 They can take my money now
@Anke they are , but new games take forever to make because they keep trying to top their older games. if they have another studio remake an older game why not, it gives people something to play while they make the new one.
@jorel262 yasssssssss!!!!!!!
